I work for a charitable/not-for-profit organization interested in developing affordable housing in our community. Are there state grants available to assist in the construction or rehabilitation of this type of housing?
Yes, the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation (AHC) administers the Affordable Home Ownership Development Program (AHODP). Eligible applicants include not-for-profit and charitable organizations as well as local municipalities. Millions of dollars worth of grants are awarded each year for the construction, rehabilitation or improvement of one-to-four family dwellings or cooperative and condominium units. The funds can also be used for acquisition costs as part of a new construction or rehabilitation project. For details, click on More Info below.
