Where can I find traffic count information?
The New York State Department of Transportation collects, interprets and summarizes data about the number of vehicles that use the state highway system. This information is most commonly reported as the annual average daily traffic, or AADT, that travels over a particular highway segment.
NYSDOT uses two traffic-counting systems to collect this data. One is the continuous-count program that comprises 87 permanent count stations throughout New York State to monitor general traffic trends. The portable traffic counter program periodically counts traffic on particular state routes for a variety of operational reasons.
