Can I get help with my heating bills?
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded energy assistance program. In New York, federal HEAP funds are used by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance to provide energy assistance to eligible households; by the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal for weatherization activities; and by the New York State Office for the Aging for outreach and referral activities. Applications for the energy assistance component are taken at all local departments of social services. In many counties, there are alternate sites as well. For information on where to apply, call 1-800-342-3009 or visit How to apply for HEAP.
