What is the taxable status date?

 The ownership and physical condition of real property is assessed (valued) as of the taxable status date. Generally, the taxable status date is the deadline for all real property tax exemption applications to be in your assessor’s office. In most municipalities, the taxable status date is March 1 of each year; ask your assessor for your taxable status date.
