Why is information maintained in the Department of Correctional Services' database on offenders who have served their sentences and then been released? Is the information ever removed?
Court-imposed sentences have always been available to the public through direct observation of court proceedings or public documents maintained in the offices of county clerks. The database simply provides the public with a central location to examine that same information. No information previously withheld from the public is available on the database. The only time information is removed from the database is if a court of law sets aside a conviction.
