What is a bear resistant canister and where is it required for camping?
Bear Resistant Canisters are commercially made containers constructed of solid, non-pliable material manufactured for the specific purpose of resisting entry by bears. Campers who stay or intend to stay in the Eastern High Peaks Zone of the Adirondacks overnight are required to store their food supply in such containers during the period of April 1 through November 30.
