What is the Cooperative Forest Management Program?
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation began the cooperative forestry program to encourage New York’s private forest landowners to apply sound forest management practices for their land. Professional foresters advise landowners on land management and land use opportunities. This service is free. Some advantages that well-managed forests provide to both landowners and the general public are increases in jobs and in income, healthy wildlife and bird habitats, and more recreational opportunities.
