Question How do I become a licensed private investigator in New York State?

Answer An applicant must be 25 years of age and a principal in the business entity to be licensed and have passed the Department of State's private investigator examination within two years immediately prior to the application date and have either three years' experience served or three years in an equivalent position or experience.
